Ingredients:

Into the Vita-Mix went:

  • 1 cup So Delicious Coconut Milk Original Creamer
  • 2 TBSP tahini
  • 2 tsp honey
  • Pinch of Celtic sea salt

Directions:
Blend. Pour into ice-cream maker and follow freezing instructions.  Eat. Say Yum.

This recipe was nutty, refreshing, slightly sweet, and SO delicious.  You may never see it on the menu at Baskin Robbins, but it’s going to be a regular in the HEAB kitchen. 🙂

Oh my gosh, this sounds so wonderful!!! I’ve been enjoying tahini and jam on toast ever since my almond butter ran out the other day, and I’m now a convert for tahini + sweetness. Wish I had an ice-cream maker! YUM!

Holy heck! I just said, “Oh no she di’int.” Our tongues are on the same wavelength…I tried to make something like this last night but used too much guar gum and it tasted like paste. Boo.

I guessed before you started teasing! Does this mean I’m psychic now?
    (Haha. No.)

Do you think that something else could be substituted for the So Good creamer? They don’t sell anything like that here in Aus. (Or any creamers at all for that matter!)

Reigne – you could try the tahini ice-cream with coconut milk or cashew cream: http://heathereatsalmondbutter.com/2009/04/18/heat-the-salmon-butt/

Oh my goodness, Heather. You are certainly the most creative tahini user in the blogworld! I have so many new things to try with my tahini rather than just using it to make hummus.

How does the calorie content stack up on this? Do you think it’ll work for those of us not wanting too many calories..? I REALLY need to find a place that sells that creamer! You are so creative, Heather!!!

  37. September 30, 2009 8:47 pm

im SO inlove with your tahini creations.
    daaang !

HEABS you’ve out-done yourself. I’m a bit afraid to ask about the calorie count- any idea what a 1/2 cup serving would be??? Just curious.

BTW I have my TAHINI smoothie concoction in my brain and I shall try it out tomorrow- your challenge really made my brain spew smoke and almost blew a fuse!! Keepin’ me on my toes, HEABster!

Looks like you’re having a paaartay with your ice cream maker–I know I do! Ha ha. Just made some pumpkin pie ice cream yesterday–heavenly! I like to use guar gum for a chewier ice cream, it’s really good!

Vicki, The creamer has 160 calories per cup. 2 TBSP tahini has 190, and 2 tsp honey has about 40 calories. Therefore, the whole serving contains 390 calories or 195 calories per 1/2 cup. I also made a batch using just *1 TBSP* tahini and *1 tsp* honey bringing the calorie count down to 260 for the whole serving. I thought it was really good, but doubling those 2 ingredients does add more flavor. If you use soy, you could try making a lighter version with silken tofu and soy milk.

hahah OMG who would have thought?!?!? I love coming to HEABS to check out what new ideas to play with my food. I guess tahini ice-cream would kind of be like sesame ice-cream in flavor no? I can imagine it would be yummy with red beans in it too. hehehe
