Operation POM Covered Kindness Winners

A Baker’s Blurbs made POM-Tastic Chocolate Covered Oats. No picture available, but the recipe sounds amazing!

Katie entered her Chocolate-Covered-Strawberry Fudge Babies (we’re going to pretend they are Chocolate-Covered-POM Fudge Babies, but unfortunately, there were no fresh pomegranates to be found in Texas. 😦 )


Ashtangamami made Blended Kamut and Spelt Flakes with POM Arils. Definitely Katie approved!


The Pure2Raw twins outdid themselves with their Pomegranate and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Fudge Baby Raw Ice-Creams.


Nourishing Days entered the giveaway with her Sweet & Sour Braised Kale with Pomegranate.


Seems Babies were on the brain. Behold Hot Flash Bang’s adorable little Pomegranate Coconut Fudge Babies.


Every entry sounded so yummy, and I had a really hard time picking 2 winners. However, based on creativity, I’d have to go with my Pure2Raw girls and Nourishing Days. Congrats my friends!     I wish poms were out every season. I ate an entire one last night – every single aril and all of the juice. It was so darn good. I would have to agree that the ice cream is so creative. It looks incredible!

    Loving your blog Heather, feel like I “know” you because I have followed your bloggie for so long. You motivated me to start my own.
    Love coconuts, coconut milk, coconut butter, oil ?…how about some nut butter, nut milk…you get the idea!
    Just started the new blog and hoping you might get some time to swing my way sometimes, it will have some fun. Know your pretty busy though with your 130 comments per day —way to hog all the blog followers πŸ™‚

    Hi Heather! I have a question for you. You talk about cutting out sugar and other things to stay at a healthy weight and I completely agree w/ you!. I was just wondering if you think you were heavier in the past bc you had a sugar intolerance/ hormone imbalance, or was it bc your portions were too much? I’m just looking for input as I start to reduce my sugar intake and try to incoporate different foods into my diet to help breakouts on my face! Thank you,

    Congrats to the winners. Heather, I was curious about your activity level – do you have an organized schedule – I know you mostly enjoy yoga and walking and love that you have such a positive outlook on respecting your body! Also, do you and CD eat the same? Oh and you have to do what works with you and feels right . Personally I love my carbs and pizza , but I also love meat and protein …well everything …with chocolate on top…and nuts…mmmm

    Hi Heather, Nice pictures. I am still pro-carb (ironically i have been in the position of zero exercise now for the past year and a long road ahead of me), and yet me not exercising and actually shoving the carbs in at full force ! (I like proteins too obviously but I have such heavy focus on the carbs!). Anyway, you are amazing…I wish I could take long walks and do yoga….i would be so thankful at that….just a short walk is all i summon myself to do. yeh, i suck ..i know..

    love all the winners, Kate from a bakers blurbs is such a sweetheart.
    and love pomegranates, love incorporating them into dishes!
    oh darn! should have entered this silly me πŸ˜‰
    i have made a few delicious dishes in the past few weeks, i used a bit of POM juice in my oat bran it was so delicious and so pretty! πŸ™‚ and put some pom seeds in a sweet potato + kabocha squash dish with a savory cashew butter sauce the other day. πŸ™‚

    Oh and Heather, I just wanted to say that it is totally cool for you to do your *own thing* and not follow what others do, or be influenced and stuff. I like seeing dishes on various blogs, etc. but it does not mean I would ever start piling on the protein powders, or avoid animal products if I wanted them, or avoid soy, or experiment with vegetarian dishes, etc etc. Like its cool to see some neat nut butter pics on your blog (I am crazy heavy on nuts and nut butters), or a yum-meat-and-grain dish and then for example see an awesome chilli and chips over at kath eats real food (yum) or an awesome pizza and chocolate cookies at another or rice and beans at another, etc…Variety is the spice of life! I have to have a bit of it all personally, but if you go a solo path, its neat that you do whatever you wish.

    Totally a different topic, BUT…
    I was inspired by your attempt at kabocha squash ice cream, so I decided to give it a whirl myself…you’ve GOT to try this recipe…I know you said you weren’t too taken by kabocha squash ice cream, but I made this tonight and have now named it “Oh my goodness YUM! ice cream”
    1/2c. baked kabocha squash, skin on or off
    1/4c. light coconut milk
    1/4c. unsweetened vanilla almond milk
    1/2 frozen banana
    1-2 t. cinnamon
    1/2 t. cloves
    1/4 t. ground ginger
    dash salt
    1/8-1/4 t. xanthan gum
    1/2 t. vanilla
    1 packet stevia
    4 ice cubes

    Blend everything in the vitamix, take a bite, and proceed to eat the whole batch. Yum…

    EatMoveLove, I do not have an organized workout schedule at all. Used to plan my workouts a week in advance. Now, I just with whatever I’m feeling when I wake up. Yesterday, it was a 60 minute yoga video class from YogaDownload and a 30 minute walk later in the day with the pups. Today it was 30 minutes of intervals on the stationary bike followed by another walk with the dogs. Tomorrow – a hike? yoga? Dunno.

    CD and I eat the same veggie base for dinner. We both always have stir-fried or roasted veggies. Sometimes, I’ll top mine with just hummus, maybe some shrimp, or some grass fed beef. CD always has beef or salmon. We eat entirely different things for breakfast and lunch. When we go out, we usually both always order some type of salad. Chris is a huge advocate of protein – loves his beef and bacon, and I’m more of a veggie girl.

    Heather, I always read but never post. I read your protein intake post and was interested to share my own route. I had a bowel cancer scare a few years back and my brother is now battling it. Since then I have reduced my protein a lot and while I still eat animal products I now focus heavily on grains and beans (and fruits, vegetables, and oils). I suppose everyone is very different and needs to do what they feel is best. So good luck on your choice. I feel better with mine. (this is also good for me because I like to be relaxed and eat macaroni and breads, plus it is wonderful for the grocery bill). Good luck.

    Is it really pomegranate month? I just bought 2 and I have been making pomegranate and cranberry dishes for weeks.

    I just made a facial mask with them last week. LOVE them!

    I didn’t realize your contest was ending so soon but got to work on one for the POM Wonderful contest and I think I’ve got the recipe down. I’m going to test it on some friends this week and if it’s good I’ll gladly share it here!

    Ok, I finally had a dinner party and tested this out on friends. My recipe is now submitted on the POM website. It was super spicy but soooo good! I balanced out the spicy with globs of guac on top πŸ™‚
